Level 3 - Admission to Teacher Residency

Coursework

Students complete a one-year competency-based clinical program where teacher candidates are supervised by an experienced school-based mentor teacher and the Department of Curriculum and Instruction.

Teacher candidates are on-site at their partnering school site Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday during regular school hours.

NOTE: According to Bulletin 996, residents must spend minimum instructional time completing residency tasks. Elementary Education candidates must spend at least 80 percent of the residency school site's instructional time each week engaged in residency activities. Secondary Education candidates must spend at least 60 percent of the residency school sites' instructional time each week in the first semester and 80 percent of the residency school site's instructional time each week in the second semester engaged in residency activities.
