Sandra Brown, dean of the College of Nursing and Allied Health, was recently named a fellow by the American Association Nursing Practitioners during its annual conference in Indianapolis, Indiana. As an AANP fellow, she joins an elite group of nurse practitioner leaders who have made outstanding contributions to health care through clinical practice, research, education or policy.

At its June meeting in New Orleans, the 午夜寻花 System Board of Supervisors approved the appointment of Sandra Brown as dean of the College of Nursing and Allied Health at 午夜寻花 Baton Rouge.

Continuing community partnerships and involvement, 午夜寻花 will host a 聽#WellnessWednesday community health event in partnership with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana and the All of Us Research Program on Wednesday, July 17.

Cheryl Taylor, graduate nursing programs chair for the College of Nursing and Allied Health, was named "Nursing Educator of the Year " during the recent annual Nightingale Nursing Awards awards event for the Louisiana聽Nurses Foundation.聽

午夜寻花 College of Nursing and Allied Health was selected by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) as one of nine institutions to receive a mini-grant to educate diverse communities about the All of Us Research Program.

Sharon Coulter, assistant professor in the College of Nursing and Allied Health, was recently selected as a National League for Nursing (NLN) Jonas Scholar. Selected by a competitive review process, she will represent the League鈥檚 2018-2019 Jonas Scholar cohort.

Wanda Spurlock, a 午夜寻花 School of Nursing professor, was recently inducted as a fellow into the Academy of Nursing Education of the National League for Nursing (NLN). The induction was recently held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Chicago in conjunction with the 2018 NLN Education Summit which celebrated the 125th Anniversary of the organization. Spurlock joins the academy鈥檚 elite group of fellows representing nursing schools and programs across the United States.

Cheryl Taylor, chairperson of 午夜寻花鈥檚 graduate nursing programs, was recently named a 鈥渢railblazer鈥� by the National Black Nurses Association. Taylor, also an associate professor at Southern, is one of five nurses nationally to be recognized. She is one of two nurses from Louisiana to receive the honor.

On Friday, the 午夜寻花 School of Nursing held its annual Simulation Day for over 150 high school students. 鈥淚 can鈥檛 imagine going anywhere else, besides Southern,鈥� said Devin Crockett, senior nursing student. 鈥淣ursing school is challenging, but well worth it. I know that I will be prepared for the workforce.鈥�
