ME Departmental Comprehensive Exam Information

Dear Mechanical Engineering (ME) Senior/Student,

Greetings! I hope that all is well and that you are making progress towards earning your B.S. in Mechanical Engineering degree.

This is a notice that the Mechanical Engineering (ME) Departmental Comprehensive Examination (DCE) will be administered on, Tuesday, November 14, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.  The exam will be administered in person and access details will be communicated before exam time to those who register and qualify for the exam.  If you see that you will have an issue with taking the exam in person due to health, safety, or other challenges, please contact me immediately so that a resolution can be found.  If you plan to take the exam, you “MUST” have:

1. COMPLETED the sign-up form, which is located at the following link, "."  The deadline to COMPLETE and SUBMIT this Registration Form is Monday, November 6, 2023 at 5:00 PM!!!  If the registration form is not submitted, you will NOT be allowed to take this exam.

2. Submitted your "INTENT TO GRADUATE FORM" and “graduation application” at least 24 hours before the exam date.  If both of these items have not been submitted, you will NOT be allowed to take this exam.  Access to the online “Intent to Graduate Form” and the new “Graduation Application” can be found on the "Undergraduate Program" page of the ME Website at . The "Intent to Graduate Form" must be completed to access the new version of the ME Graduation Application.  Prospective Spring and Summer 2023 graduates DO NOT have to complete the “Intent to Graduate Form” because they have already completed their graduation application.

If you have taken and PASSED the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Examination, then you are exempt from the DCE.  If this is your case, please communicate this information to your ME Career and Academic Advisor and the ME Office.  This communication should include some form of documentation from the agency administering the FE Exam.  We will place this information in your file for our records.

Because of its importance, I hope that you have been studying for the exam!  We suggest that you use typical FE Review materials and the available interactive FE Review web sites to help prepare for the exam.  Examples include:
