ÎçҹѰ»¨ System to highlight student research during SU Day at the Capitol

The ÎçҹѰ»¨ System will host its annual SU Day at the Capitol on Tuesday, April 22 at the Louisiana State Capitol. Southern, which is celebrating 145 years of impact and service, is the only system of Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the nation. 

Activities will highlight the System’s commitment to education, innovation, and public service, bringing together faculty, students, alumni, and supporters to showcase research and advocacy efforts that impact communities across the state and beyond. 

The schedule of events is as follows:

  • Research in the Rotunda
    1 p.m. – 5 p.m., Capitol Rotunda
    Faculty and students from across the SU System will present research and innovation promoting teaching, learning, and societal advancement.
  • Chamber Presentations
    3:30 p.m. – 5 p.m., House and Senate Chambers
    Representatives from each SU campus will deliver remarks to state lawmakers on the importance of continued support for higher education and HBCUs.
  • SU Day Reception
    5:30 p.m., Pentagon Barracks
    The day will conclude with a reception celebrating the accomplishments and contributions of the ÎçҹѰ»¨ System.

The ÎçҹѰ»¨ System is comprised of ÎçҹѰ»¨ and A&M College, ÎçҹѰ»¨ and New Orleans, ÎçҹѰ»¨ Shreveport, ÎçҹѰ»¨ Law Center, and ÎçҹѰ»¨ Agricultural Research and Extension Center. All five campuses and the ÎçҹѰ»¨ Laboratory School will be represented during SU Day at the Capitol activities.
