THE HBCU-UP ACE IMPLEMENTATION PROJECT

The HBCU-UP Achieving Competitive Excellence Implementation Project is funded by the to support the involvement of undergraduate students in the development of sustainable materials, energy, and technologies through an interdisciplinary dual-degree curriculum that integrates academics, research and global engagement with collaborating university partners in China - , , and .  As a participant in the , SU students and faculty will also   benefit from access to external research opportunities available through and .  

The goal of the HBCU-UP ACE Implementation Project is to create a transformative connection between STEM disciplines, Research and Development (R&D), and international engagement using an interdisciplinary approach to promote innovation and creativity in the field of sustainability.  Involving both domestic and international partners in this project supports Southern's vision to develop a globally astute workforce as students and faculty will gain access to top scientific personnel, programs and facilities throughout the world.   This, in turn, will support: 

  • Expanded opportunities for students to participate in research experiences and internships that complement their academic programs; and
  • Enhanced research resources for the University due to increased opportunities whereby faculty can engage in research development activities.
